Infantry Museum

The infantry is the main branch of the Finnish army, and the majority of people completing their military service receive infantry training. The Infantry Museum describes Finland’s post-independence wars from the perspective of the infantry. If you are interested in weapons and battles, this is the place for you!

The museum is located in the barracks of the Old Guard, the solders conscripted between 1881 and 1901. Sniper regiments were established in the capitals of every Finnish province.

The Mannerheim Cross of Liberty was a special badge of honour created at the end of the Winter War. It could be awarded to any soldier regardless of rank. During the Second World War, 151 of these medals were awarded to infantrymen, and every recipient of the cross is named on the Infantry Museum’s honours list.
