Tertti Manor House

The air raids of 5 January 1940 came without warning and shocked the people of Mikkeli. People fled the burning town and 80 refugees sought shelter at Tertti mansion that night.

They were joined by the artillery commander from Headquarters, Major General Väinö Svanström and his staff. When the Continuation War broke out, four boys from Tertti went off to war, and two of them died within a month of each other. The residential building housed the superintendent’s division, which was tasked with handling day-to-day matters: Headquarters was giving its all to survive the war, and it could not be distracted by a lack of food, clothing, equipment and office supplies.

Nowadays, Tertti mansion is famous among foodies for its cuisine, functioning farm and cosy hotel.
